If you happen to administer one or more OpenLDAP servers, you know that they can be a challenge to work with. Configuring a Basic OpenLDAP Passthrough

Ever wanted/needed to setup an OpenLDAP Server that can passthrough the password portion of authentication to a Windows DC LDAP Server? Well recently I happened to set something up to do just that so we could accomplish a single sign on solution for our Linux/BSD/Unix systems and AD systems. What was most interesting is the group I work in only supports and maintains Linux/BSD/Unix systems. We actually did not need to directly access a single DC we only needed a service account.

Contacts and events everywhere - successful syncing between thunderbird and android with Baikal

Contacts and events everywhere - successful syncing between thunderbird and android with Baikal I got a new Android phone lately and was wondering how to handle my life. New phone, new chances, new life ;-) I have a lots of contacts. I used to store addresses in an openLDAP server, but I found these hard to manage especially since Ubuntu 14.04 does not ship "luma" anymore! I used to run radicale, but I did not manage to fix my sync-performance issues.

Open Source LDAP Solutions

It runs on a layer above the TCP/IP stack incorporating simplified encoding methods, and offers a convenient way to connect to, search, and modify Internet directories, specifically X.500-based directory services.

LDAP for Rocket Scientists

This Open Source Guide is about LDAP, OpenLDAP 2.x and ApacheDS on Linux and the BSD's (FreeBSD, OpenBSD and NetBSD). It is meant for newbies, Rocket Scientist wannabees and anyone in between.LDAP is a complex subject. This Guide was born out of our pathetic attempts to understand LDAP, since it promised a veritable nirvana - common source for information, unlimited scalability using a replication model, inherent resilience, fast read performance, fine-grained control over who can do what to what data - the list goes on. Wonderful stuff.
